(Nasdaq:VSAT), showing compatibility of WEGENER’s video overlay solution for VSAT networks. VSAT networks provide bandwidth efficient solutions for distributing interactive IP data between thousands of data centers, retail locations, corporate LANS, schools, the Internet, and home offices. Using standard ViaSat LinkStar® uplink and downlink equipment WEGENER added live high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) video streams to a VSAT network traditionally used to transmit data files. Artifact-free video was successfully decoded by the WEGENER SMD 515 IPTV set top box.

University of Oregon School of Journalism Selects Broadcast Pix Slate 1000 Switcher to Produce Live News Program
February 29, 2008Broadcast Pix today announced that the University of Oregon, School of Journalism and Communications, has installed a Broadcast Pix Slate 1000 switcher. System integrator Advanced Broadcast Solutions (ABS) worked with Broadcast Pix and the University to set up the Slate 1000 in the school’s television studio at the Chambers Electronic Media Center. That is where students enrolled in the Electronic Media program attend production classes and produce a daily five minute newscast as well as a weekly live half hour news program called, “Oregon News.” The live newscast airs locally on area cable systems.
